LIAQUAT ALI KJAN
Liaquat Ali Khan was the first Prime Minister of Pakistan who led the new born nation from August 1947 till his assassination in 1951. A deade of apprenticeship under his political mentor, Quaid Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, had prepared him for a life of selfless service and of responsibility. After the founding father's death in September 1948, Liaquet provided a confident and strong leadership to Pakistan in the face of the Indian hostilities. Liaquat Ali Khan chalked out Pakistan's place in the comity of nations by direction to the country's foriegn policy. He took a strong stand on the issue of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. Liaquat was a strong believer of Muslims Unity and, to this end, he took concrete step to strength Pakistan's ties with Muslim countries. He extended support to liberation movementa in Indonesia, Malaya, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and the Arab cause in palestine. Do mestically, Liaquat Ali Khan paved way for the smooth relocation and settlement of Muslim migrants from India during partition. As the chief architect of the 1949 Objectives Resolation, Liaquat ali Khan committed Pakistan to the ideals of freedom, peace, democracy, social justice and tolerance. The deft manner in which he tacklid the internal and external problems and consolidated Pakistan's position in early years won him recognition, both nationally and internationally.
